Irene Schröder & Wolfgang Kurtz

Since 2012 the dancer/choreographer Irene Schröder and the architect/stagedesigner Wolfgang Kurtz are working in close collaboration. Their works are especially focused on kinematics of the 3-dimensional space in interaction with the human body and its anatomical potentials.

Together they has ben developed successful productions like Kopfkino (Tanztage Berlin/Sophiensæle, Tanzplattform Sachsen; Hellerau – Europäisches Zentrum der Künste Dresden) and lately Levitation (LOFFT – das Theater Leipzig), nominated for the saxonian dance price.

Irene Schröder studied dance at Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. She works as freelance dancer with Irina Pauls, Amanda Miller (prettyugly Tanz Köln), Ohad Naharin (Batsheva Ensemble training), Massimo Gerardi, Valentina Cabro among others.

Her work was supported by different grants and residencies. For example in 2012 Irene Schröder was a Carte Blanche Artist of modul-dance at Mercat de les Flors Barcelona. Her Performances were shown in various locations like the Tanzhaus NRW Düsseldorf, HELLERAU – European Center for the Arts Dresden and in the festival Tanztage Berlin 2013, Sopiensaele Berlin.

Wolfgang Kurtz

Since the completion of his studies in architecture in Vienna, Wolfgang Kurtz has constantly switched between different genres of the arts, like architecture, scenography, and site-specific installations. From 2005 to 2012 he was a lecturer at the Technical University in Dresden.
Wolfgang has been engaged as stage designer in several theatre productions. He is also working in close collaboration with the choreographer and dancer Irene Schröder. Their works are especially focused on kinematics of the 3-dimensional space in interaction with the human body.
